Jessica began her teaching career at Cypress Bay High School in 2007 and has taught a multitude of subjects in mathematics including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus and AP Calculus AB and BC. She attended Nova High School and upon graduation she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from Florida State University. She has worked on writing some AP Precalculus content for AP Classroom, and is currently working with other freshly minted AP Precalculus Consultants to write content and prepare activities for the first round of AP Precalc APSI’s this summer. Ruth will also serve as an AP Precalculus Mentor in 2023-24. She’s led AP Calculus APSIs for several years and participated in the AP Calculus Mentoring program in 2022-23. She graduated from the University of Akron as an undergrad, and earned a BS from Johns Hopkins University.įor 20 years, Ruth has been an AP Reader, and has also served recently as a Table Leader and as a writer on question teams. Ruth briefly taught History of Math (and Calculus & Statistics) at Towson University in Towson, Maryland, and enjoys using the History of Math to help students to understand the connections between how the discipline has developed and current practice. She has taught in both public & private schools for 40 years, in Ohio, California, Virginia, Michigan, Colorado, and Maryland. She’s been teaching Precalculus and AP Calculus (off and on) since 1984, as well as AP Stats, Algebra I, and pretty much everything else that passes for math.
